New York, New York, September 3, 2025 - This September, the world will pause together for peace. The United Nations International Day of Peace, held annually on September 21, is expanding in 2025 into a global weekend of reflection, action, and unity. From Times Square to the United Nations headquarters, communities worldwide will gather to honor a shared vision of peace through silence, meditation, and collective participation.
At Bay Park Data Solutions, we’re honored that one of our mapping applications — the Peace Pole Map — will be featured during this historic weekend. The project offers anyone, anywhere in the world, the opportunity to add the location of a physical Peace Pole OR plant a virtual Peace Pole on the map as a symbol of their commitment to peace. Whether standing in New York City, Nairobi, or Nagoya, every contribution creates a living global mosaic of hope.

A Global Weekend of Peace
For 2025, the International Day of Peace is expanding beyond its single day into a three-day global weekend of peace activities.
Events include:
On Friday, September 19th, there will be a Peace Day 2025 Press Conference & Global Meditation Event from 11 AM – 1 PM at City Hall in NYC.
On Saturday, September 20th, from 11:30 AM – 5:00 PM EST is the 23rd Annual International Day of Peace & Climate Week Kick-Off Concert in Times Square (46th–47th Streets)
On Sunday, September 21st, from 12:00 PM EST – 12:05 PM EST (in 24 Time Zones Worldwide) is the official International Day of Peace Moment/Meditative Minute of Silence for Peace, & Worldwide Virtual and Physical Creation/Installation of Peace Poles around the Globe — a unifying pause where people everywhere are invited to stop and reflect together.
Planting Peace Poles: Physical and Virtual
Peace Poles, which originated in Japan after World War II, have become an international symbol of peace. Traditionally installed in parks, schools, and community spaces, they are inscribed with the message “May Peace Prevail on Earth” in multiple languages.
This year, in addition to thousands of physical Peace Poles being planted worldwide and added to our map, our interactive Peace Pole Map allows participants to plant a virtual Peace Pole in seconds. The map will be showcased during the Times Square event during the weekend of September 19-21, giving visitors a unique opportunity to see the movement grow in real time.
Mapping Peace with Technology
Bay Park specializes in helping nonprofits and NGOs collect, integrate, and visualize data to tell their stories. For the International Day of Peace, we were asked by our customer, May Peace Prevail on Earth (https://www.worldpeace.org/) to use that expertise to build a platform that is fast, accessible, and global in scale. Our goal is simple: to help amplify this message of peace so that everyone, everywhere can participate.
