Bay Park selected by USC to create application showcasing 104 Spiritual Exemplars around the world.

Los Angeles, California, September 12, 2023 – Bay Park Data Solutions was selected by the University of Southern California's Center for Religion and Civic Culture to build out a map application that would highlight the work and locations of 104 Spiritual Exemplars around the world.

The spiritual exemplars map brings together 104 stories of people working to advance human flourishing in different parts of the world. Each point on the map represents one of the humanitarians featured in a global study of engaged spirituality, conducted by the University of Southern California Center for Religion and Civic Culture (CRCC).

In November 2018, the Center for Religion and Civic Culture (CRCC) at the University of Southern California launched a five-year project focused on people who dedicate their lives to human flourishing.

The joint academic-journalistic project resulted in the publication of more than 100 stories of “engaged spirituality”—stories about how religious values and spiritual practices inspire and sustain social action.

Through “Spiritual Exemplars: A Global Project on Engaged Spirituality,” CRCC gained insights into how spiritually engaged humanitarians understand their lives and their work, as well as how their social action affects their beliefs and practices.

This in-person exhibit at USC ran from August - September 2023 on the USC campus, and the online map application is still available for viewing.

Patterns on each fabric banner hanging in the gallery represent the faith tradition of the exemplar quoted.
